On-Call Collection

Households can select two days per year for one of the following combinations of these services:

  • Two garbage disposal days.
  • Two yard waste and wood recycling days.
  • One garbage disposal day and one yard waste and wood recycling day.

All items must fit within an 8-foot long, 4-foot wide and 4-foot high area and be placed curbside / roadside by 6:00am. Single items, bags, bundles or boxes cannot weigh more than 50 pounds each. No individual item may be longer than 6 feet.

Advance notice of 48 hours is requested. Garbage, yard waste and wood disposal days are scheduled on normal collection days. Unused On-Call disposal or recycling days are not transferrable to the next year.

Please donate materials that are still usable. Check your phone book for a list of non-profit organizations.

On-Call garbage Pick-Up
  • Contain loose items in bags, boxes or bundles.
  • Items must be less than 50 pounds each and manageable by one person.
  • No appliances with freon, such as refrigerators and air conditioners.
  • No TVs, computer monitors or hazardous waste. For recycling information call the Countywide Household Hazardous Waste Program at (408) 299-7300.
  • No items with oil, diesel, or gasoline.
  • Small amounts of dirt, rock, concrete, asphalt, brick and tile are accepted if boxed and weighs no more than 50 pounds per container (up to 250 pounds total).
  • Painted wood no more than 6-feet long and stacked neatly. (Railroad ties are hazardous and cannot be picked up.)

On-Call Yard Waste Pick-Up
  • Please no ice plant, cactus, poison oak, palm fronds, or bug, moth or ant-infested material.
  • Branches can be up to 6 inches in diameter and 4-feet long.
  • Please bundle or box branches and trimmings for collection. Each bundle or box may not exceed 50 pounds.
  • No tree trunks, stumps or painted trees.
  • Please, no plastic bags. Plastic will contaminate the entire load.

On-Call Wood Waste Pick-Up
  • Since wood will be composted, we cannot accept painted, varnished, stained or treated wood (like railroad ties).
  • Lumber may be up to 4-feet long and must be stacked neatly (For the safety of our drivers, please remove all nails).
  • Wood scraps must be boxed or bundled.
  • Please no plastic bags. Plastics will contaminate the entire load.
