Yard waste is collected weekly in your tan cart. Put leaves, small branches cut into 3 foot lengths or less and grass clippings in your yard waste rolling cart. Yard waste must fit inside the cart and the lid must be closed.

Grass clippings, leaves and small branches may be placed in your own 32-gallon container labeled "YARD TRIMMINGS ONLY" or in a 96-gallon rolling cart, which may be purchased from LAGCo by calling (650) 961-8040 or by using our online contact form.
You may also bundle and tie small branches in 4-foot lengths or less and place them next to your yard waste containers. All materials need to be manageable by one person and not weigh more than 50 pounds.

You may set out the equivalent of six 32-gallon carts or tied bundles on your yard waste collection day. One tied bundle is equal to one 32-gallon can. If you are using rolling carts purchased from LAGCo, two 96-gallon carts are the same as six 32-gallon cans. This is the maximum amount that may be set out on your yard waste collection day at no extra charge.

Important Reminders
Our trucks can pick up yard waste rolling carts weighing up to 150 pounds. Carts filled to capacity with some materials can exceed this weight limit and may not be collected.

Yard waste is now collected with a fully automated truck, using a mechanical arm that retrieves, empties and sets the cart down in the street without the driver leaving the truck.

Using the fully automated system makes the set out of the carts more important than ever, so that the mechanical arm can grab a cart without interfering with the other carts.
